The grapes come from vines over 50 years old, located on the hillside of Chamoson, in the heart of Valais. Starting in the 1920s, this grape variety found its preferred terroir in the schistous soils of Chamoson, on one of the largest alluvial fans in Europe. Our wine comes partly from the renowned Crêtes-aux-Sang plot, a vineyard that has belonged to our family for several generations.

This high-altitude terroir, benefiting from more 300 days of sunshine per year, a dry climate and the warm Foehn wind, promotes optimal ripening of the grapes while preserving their freshness and aromas.
The vineyard is cultivated according to the principles of integrated production, certified by the label Vitival. This voluntary approach is based on respect for the environment, biodiversity protection, the judicious use of phytosanitary treatments, and constant vineyard monitoring.
The grapes are exclusively hand-picked on centuries-old terraces, sometimes accessible only by helicopter, ensuring rigorous selection and optimal quality.
Sylvaner is currently the second most cultivated white grape variety in Valais. Introduced at the beginning of the 20th century, it quickly established itself thanks to its adaptation to the alpine climate. This wine has exceptional aging potential: the older it gets, the more its fruity aromas are revealed and gain complexity.
The Johannisberg AOC Valais appellation takes its name from the famous Johannisberg Castle, located in the Rheingau region of Germany. In the 19th century, Sylvaner vines from this estate were introduced to Valais, where winemakers adopted the name «Johannisberg» to refer to this grape variety.
