Originally from the Rhine Valley, Sylvaner is called Johannisberg in Valais. The second most widely cultivated white grape variety in the canton, it gets its local nickname from Schloss Johannisberg, a Germanic wine castle believed to have produced the first sweet wines. This selection comes from vines averaging 45 years old, grown on the rocky terraces of the Chamoson hillside, beneath the Haut de Cry massif.

Slow, gentle pressing, an initial low-temperature fermentation and several months in vats during which malolactic fermentation takes place (50% with and 50% without fermentation) guarantee maximum fatness and roundness while preserving the finesse and freshness of the aromas.
Yellow with golden highlights
The floral, fruity bouquet reveals notes of fresh hazelnuts, almonds and white fruits.
The palate is characterized by mineral and toasted almond aromas, with a hint of fresh hazelnuts, a touch of pineapple and good acidity on the finish. The slight bitterness is characteristic of the Chamoson terroir.
Ideal as an aperitif, Johannisberg goes perfectly with asparagus, fish and soft cheeses.
