Johannisberg was first mentioned in Valais, Switzerland, in 1862. Its name certainly comes from the Château de Johannisberg in the Rheingau region. Blanc du Rhin appeared at the same time and corresponds to Sylvaner. Valais Johannisberg has been protected since 1966, making it the second most famous Valais white wine in Switzerland.
Slow, gentle pressing, an initial low-temperature fermentation at 18 degrees and eight months' vat ageing, during which malolactic fermentation takes place in part, guarantee maximum length for this wine, while preserving the finesse and freshness of its aromas.
