Mentioned in 1313 in a notarial deed from the Registre d'Anniviers, Humagne Blanche is one of the oldest Valais grape varieties. According to popular tradition, it has a particularly high iron content, earning it the nickname "the wine of childbirth". A variety found only in Valais, Humagne Blanche almost disappeared during the 20th century due to its low productivity and susceptibility to vine pests. In the 2000s, this grape variety was reborn in Valais to regain its place as an outstanding ambassador for the canton.
Slow, gentle pressing, a low-temperature initial fermentation at a maximum of 18 degrees, and several months' ageing in vats, during which malolactic fermentation takes place, guarantee maximum roundness, while preserving the finesse and freshness of the aromas. Malolactic retrogradation has been completed.
