Petite Arvine, a grape variety native to the Valais, has been cultivated for at least four centuries. Initially little planted, it gained in popularity in the 20th century. Between 1991 and 2008, acreage almost quadrupled thanks to careful selection. Demanding, it requires optimal exposure and avoids fertile soils and drought. Appreciated for its typicality and ageing potential, Petite Arvine has resisted attempts to grow it elsewhere in Europe, where conditions are not suitable.
Slow, gentle pressing, a single fermentation at a low temperature of 17 degrees, and nine months' ageing in vats guarantee maximum fatness and roundness, while preserving the finesse and freshness of the aromas. Our Petite Arvine has not undergone malolactic retrogradation to retain all its vivacity.
